Chain of Custody Certification

What is Chain of Custody?
The chain of custody is the path which wood products take from the forest to the consumer, including all manufacturing, transformation and distribution links.

Through credible certifications, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) promotes and enhances well-managed forests and guarantees that wood products have been produced in a responsible way. SGS Qualifor is an FSC-accredited certifier offering Chain of Custody Certification throughout the wood industry.

Chain of Custody Certification verifies that products from certified forests are not mixed with products from uncertified forests at any point in the supply chain.

Why is Chain of Custody Certification important?
Chain of custody procedures assure buyers and customers that the certified goods they buy are genuinely the products of a well-managed forest.

Chain of Custody Certification is required whenever a company carries out any physical alteration to the timber/product, they take physical or legal ownership of the timber/product, and whenever a company wishes to make independent use of the FSC certified logo (FSC trademark).
